I have visited Saba Island on 3 separate occasions. I love it there! Saba is located in the Dutch West Indies and is a quick flight or ferry ride from nearby St. Martin. Saba is basically a non-active volcanic island 5 miles square with one road to drive a car. It is very mountainous and steep but is home to some amazing flora. There is an awesome hike up to Mt. Scenery where you can observe some symbiotic relationships between orchids and various trees. Saba's entire island is protected by the Conservancy and I was unable to get permission to collect specimen in the wild. However, I was fortunate to collect these plants because they were plentiful at the homes we rented while there.
